The Branch School Attains ISAS Membership!

We are thrilled to announce this momentous and significant achievement. From the Executive Director of ISAS, in a letter written to The Branch School on June 13, 2018:

Dear Emily,

On June 12, 2018 the Membership of the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) unanimously voted to accept the recommendation of the ISAS Standards Committee and Board of Directors that The Branch School become a member of and accredited by the Association.  ISAS accreditation is effective for a period of ten years contingent upon the School’s submission of required reports and continued adherence to ISAS Standards.

“ISAS promotes the highest professional and ethical standards of educational excellence for independent schools in the region and recognizes by formal ongoing accreditation those schools which demonstrate adherence to its standards. As a collective voice of the independent schools of the Southwest, ISAS fosters collegial relations among its member schools and represents their interests.” In their efforts to fulfill this mission, the Visiting Committee and its Chairs aspired to offer the School an important and valuable document in the Report of the Visiting Committee. The detailed commendations and recommendations provide a unique view of school programs and operations as seen through the eyes of highly experienced peer professionals, nominated as mission exemplary by their respective Heads of School. The Association looks forward to learning in the coming years of ways in which the ISAS accreditation process further encourages The Branch School in its efforts to consistently strive for and achieve new levels of excellence.

Thank you for all that was done to welcome and assist the ISAS Visiting Committee in their duties. The special care and oversight of the Self Study and Documentation of Adherence to Standards and the marvelous visit arrangements contributed invaluably to the Committee’s ability to work at a high level. They very much appreciated the warm welcome and the privilege of touring and working where the virtue of the year, kindness, was celebrated at every turn. As educators who wish fellow educators conspicuous success, it was their privilege to experience the engagement of your community and to witness happy children responding to teachers and coaches and learning the importance of living in harmony with the natural world. With the acquisition of adjacent property, the School’s future campus and program are full of greater promise to Love, Learn, and Lead.

Congratulations to you, the Board of Trustees, faculty, administration, staff, students, and parents on this achievement that is the result of comprehensive, inclusive, and commendable collaborative work.

The Branch School has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1998.

At our 2018 re-accreditation visit, the following themes for recognition were noted:

  • The school has shown a commitment to the culture and community through the practice of educating students in academics and character traits and providing support for opportunities to practice community values providing students with occasions to apply and achieve in learning, thinking, and life skills.
  • The diverse board makeup and individual commitment to the mission of the school allow the school to function under the leadership of a strong board with daily school operations managed by uniquely qualified and experienced leadership, faculty, and staff, thus creating a highly functional management team.
  • The Branch School's inspirational and caring teachers infuse a positive, safe environment conducive to augmenting student's academic, social, and emotional growth.

 

As a member of the Houston Association of Independent Schools (HAIS), the school is part of a local network of well-known private schools.
